The Museum of Radio & Technology (MRT) respects your privacy. We have adopted this Privacy Policy to explain what information we collect, how we use it, and how we share it. By using our website you accept our practices as described in this Privacy Policy.

Types of Data We Collect

Non-Personal Information

Our Website automatically gathers and stores Non-Personal Information, which may include:

  • The IP address from which you access our Website;
  • The name of the domain from which you accessed our Website (i.e. the page that linked you to us);
  • The type of browser and operating system you use to access our Website;
  • The date and time you accessed our Website; and the pages, files, documents, and links you accessed on our Website.

We collect Non-Personal Information to help us evaluate and improve how our Website works and to learn how and from where visitors access it. This information is stored and used in the aggregate, meaning that it is not tied to your name and does not identify you as an individual. This statistical information may be provided to third parties. Neither MRT nor any third party will use this information to contact you personally unless you personally request us to do so.

Personal Information

Personal Information includes information that identifies you as an individual and is linked to your name. Personal Information may include:

  • Your name;
  • Your mailing address;
  • Your email address;
  • Your telephone number;

MRT will only collect Personal Information that is voluntarily and knowingly provided, such as when you fill out a membership, donation, or order form, or if you sign up for a program or event, agree to participate in a survey, or request communications from MRT.

MRT will use this information to respond to your specific inquiry, request, or order. Sometimes MRT may use third party vendors to perform certain services on our behalf, such as mailings, email distribution, order fulfillment, and shipping; these vendors will have access to Personal Information to the extent required to perform their functions, but will not use that information for any other purposes.

MRT may in the future also use Personal Information you submit to MRT in order to communicate with you about exhibitions, programs, membership, development, surveys, special events, and other MRT news that may be of interest to you and for other marketing and promotional purposes. You will always have the opportunity to decline further communications

We may also provide your information to third parties in circumstances where we believe that doing so is necessary or appropriate to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; or protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others.

With whom we share your data

MRT does not share your information with anyone except as necessary to conduct a particular transaction. For example, we use a third-party payment processor to handle donations and membership payments.

How long we retain your data

Information submitted to us may be retained as needed to continue conversations without losing the context of what has been previously written and to facilitate memberships and donations.

What rights you have over your data

You can request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Many browsers allow users to send “do not track” signals to websites. There is no consensus on how websites should interpret these signals. At present, MRT does not make any changes in response to DNT signals.

In addition, most browsers are set to accept cookies by default. From within your browser settings, you may choose to remove and/or reject cookies. This may affect how the MRT website works for you.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer (unless you block them). We may use cookies to compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

Third-Party Cookies

Cookies may be set by an organization other than MRT. These “third-party cookies” may, for example, originate from websites such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus or other social media services for which MRT has implemented “plug-ins.” Since the cookie policies of these sites change over time, you should determine their policies by visiting the privacy policy pages of these sites directly.

How we protect your data

This website is protected with secure sockets layer (ssl) encryption, and we use security tools to help prevent unauthorized access to the website. Please keep in mind, however, that no method of online or electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children’s Information

MRT does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If personal information regarding a child is required for program participation or similar reasons, MRT will collect this information from the child’s parent or guardian.

We provide links to third-party websites as a convenience to users of MRT. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for the contents of any linked-to, third-party websites or any hyperlink in a linked-to website.
